    Mario Kart 8 & AMD

I've been running BOTW on both my gaming rigs with very little issue. My son runs it fine on his i5 machine too. The one thing I can't seem to fix is Mario Kart 8 on the R9 380. It runs great on the nVidia cards, but the stuttering is god awful on the AMD card. I've tried everything I can think of and have scoured the web and forums for a solution, but nothing seems to work. I've tried downloading multiple shader packs, tried just about every option on/off on the graphics tab (Disable precompiled shaders etc...), GPU buffer accuracy is set to low.

Here's what's unusual from what I've seen wither other CEMU emulated games or even MK8 on nVidia...

Let's say we load up Bowser's Castle (One of the busier maps graphically), it will freeze every time there's a new animation on screen. For instance rev the engine at start, there's a .5 second freeze. That first turtle shell is let loose, freeze. Get hit by a turtle shell, freeze. It will do this through the whole first lap. The next two laps get progressively better and it's fairly smooth by the third lap. What's weird is next time we load the game up and do that exact same level, the same thing happens. Is this even a shader cache issue? I'm not sure anymore. When the game is not freezing from new animations, it's getting around 60fps. It freezes so much on that first lap though EVERY TIME, it's simply not playable. If anyone has some input on this, I would love to hear it. Thanks!

On amd don’t use any cemu after 1.12.0. Only update again when 1.14 comes out. Shader caches are currently broken on amd but not in 1.12.0 or before.

On nvidia make sure you ignore precompiled shaders in the general options.

Thanks for the reply. I tried going back to 1.12.0 and I'm getting a BSOD which I haven't seen in a LONG time. All I did was replace the CEMU.exe and the hook files. Is there anything else I need to do to go back a version? The game starts up, but BSOD at initial splash screen. I did just update to the newest Radeon drivers, but I'm not having trouble with anything else.

Try deleting your settings.bin. It may be causing some problems when going back that many versions.

Tried deleting the settings.bin, same deal. BOTW and Mario 3D World seem fine. No matter what I set, with Mario Kart 8 there's a BSOD right after the splash screen. I tried forcing it to rebuild shader cache, turned off any graphics packs, no change in behavior. The BSOD is the IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL "atikmdag.sys", which is a general ati driver error. I just did a clean install of the AMD driver, and since other games work fine even in CEMU this has got to be something related to MK8. Just not sure what else it could be. Any other ideas?

Still seeing the same behavior with 1.14.0c. BSOD right after the splash screen.

Post your log.txt after the crash.

Here's the log right after trying to run MK8 this morning. I did try doing a fresh setup of Cemu from scratch. Installed DLC, updates, etc... Newest graphics driver for the Radeon (18.10.2). Nothing seems to work great anymore on the AMD card and MK8 just BSOD's every time. Tried Smash Bros, and it runs but can't get much over 30fps. On the nVidia builds it's a totally different story. Everything runs without issue for the most part, and just as good as the WiiU. Better in some cases. Are we just to a point here emulation on the AMD cards is a lost cause? I'm an nVidia guy anyway, but this rig is in our theater and AMD has always done better with Blu-Ray's and HD video in general. Seriously considering about picking up a 1070 for it though with the problems I've been having. Not just Cemu either, driver installers from AMD have been problematic too.

I am running a Powercolor RX 570 and also have problems with MK8. I have latest cemu 1.15 and tried multiple radeon drivers from 17.x to 18.x and can never get past the Mario Kart 8 logo before the flag appears.
Other games run sort of OK (slow) compared with 1070 ti. Anyone else had similar problems and managed to overcome them?
